Over a thousand athletes raised over a million dollars for the Maine Cancer Foundation at the 4th annual event. Cheering family members and PDT fans wore the distinctive signature pink PDT hardhats.
PDT Women's Triathlon Team places 40th in Maine Cancer Foundation's 2010 Tri-for-a-Cure Relay!
On Sunday, August 15, on the seaside campus of Southern Maine Community College, the PDT team joined over 1,000 athletes to raise nearly a million dollars for breast cancer research. Two years of planning and training paid off as the team achieved an impressive 40th place in the relay and collectively raised over $900.
PDT's swimmer was the first in the relay heat out of the 62-degree water. Runner Marilyn Leivian snatched the timing chip and ran the chute to the transition area, handing off to biker Becca Casey. Becca finished the winding 15-mile course through South Portland and passed the chip back to Marilyn, who ran the 3 mile course to secure PDT's 40th place. It was easy to spot the PDT team in their new Atayne shirts (100% recycled soda bottles) and distinctive pink hardhats. Congratulations to the PDT team and all their supporters!
