According to data compiled by the UMF Department of Facilities Management with PDT Architects, the actual performance of the Education Building exceeds projections by 20%. In a presentation to the New England Board of Higher Education on May 4, 2009, Alan G. Kuniholm, AIA, LEED AP, principal-in-charge of the Education Center project, presented post-occupancy energy use data for the LEED-Silver building, which opened in 2007. He was able to compare the data on the new building with similar figures for a comparable but conventionally-designed building on the UMF campus.
