The design of the new Education Center takes advantage of an array of sustainable materials and practices: geothermal heating and cooling, high-performance wall systems, local materials and workmanship, incentives for recycling and responsible transportation, and water-saving landscape design. The facility is also sited to take advantage of solar orientation and natural daylighting. The project has been awarded a LEED-Silver rating and a Work in Progress citation by the 2003 American School and University Architectural Portfolio.
