Private Residence
Standish, Maine 2007Located on a private road on Sebago Lake, this site originally housed a 1940s-era seasonal camp. As the owners needed a year-round home, the cottage was razed with careful attention to preserving water quality of the lake. The new 2,200-s.f. cottage is eighteen feet further back from the water.
The Shingle-Style home has Arts and Crafts details, custom built-in cabinetry, and a canted granite chimney. The chimney opens to fireplaces in the living room and outside on the covered porch.
Site runoff is managed and treated through rain gardens located behind a stepped series of retaining walls. Access to the dock and lake is through the basement level. Existing pines on the site are preserved.
