York High School Music Wing

York High School's active, growing music program, which includes a 130-member Chorus, a freshman and sophomore Treble Choir, the Chamber Singers, a 19-piece Jazz Band, and a 65-piece Concert Band, is making do with makeshift spaces. This locally funded 9,600-sf music wing alleviates overcrowding and provides much-needed practice spaces, chorale and band rehearsal rooms, a keyboard classroom, instrument and uniform storage, and faculty offices. The project, which pays special attention to soundproofing and acoustics, is adjacent to the existing auditorium and attaches to the science wing. It is designed to integrate with a future performing arts center.
