The café is a crucial part of the move from Congress Street to Scarborough—a sunny, coffee-laced atmosphere for work and spontaneous conversations.

The new pressroom is a highly collaborative space where writers, editors, photographers, web developers, and professional staff will have instant access to multiple streams of news. With flexible furnishings and few private offices, team members can meet, work solo, and regroup as needed.

PDT is partnering with Lisa Whited at WTF to relocate the Portland Press Herald’s newsroom and associated departments from One City Center to the former Press Hall on Gannett Drive in Scarborough.  The Press Herald recently purchased and installed a new press, vacating the former press hall, allowing for its reuse as a state-of-the-art newsroom.

Wright-Ryan Construction infilled the floor where the 3-story tall press had stood. The space will be filled with collaboration spaces, a video production suite, new lunch room, conference spaces, associated new finishes, upgraded HVAC, and large suspended media screens to help the newsroom stay in front of the dynamic news landscape.
