  • New construction 9,500 sf

  • Construction cost: $1.5M

  • Completed 2010

South Portland, ME

The choice of exterior materials was driven by the client’s wish for ease of maintenance.

The compact floor plan includes an 800-sf suite that can be leased out or used for future expansion.

The curved conference room, adjacent to the break room and back patio, is used for presentations to the board and top management.

The floor plan arranges private offices, a state-of-the-art data center, and conference rooms around open workspaces with vaulted ceilings.

Interior clerestory windows and tubular skylights direct natural light toward interior workspaces.

Natural light is brought to every desk in order to engage each employee with the outdoors.

PDT Architects designed this freestanding credit union operations center as a design/build project for Wright/Ryan Construction. The building is a "back-of-house" facility that does not serve the public directly.

PDT worked with the TruChoice staff on space planning so that the small footprint would yield the most efficient work flow. A centrally located workroom houses printing, copying, and mailing equipment. An employee area includes a kitchen and outdoor patio. Shower facilities support a corporate wellness program. The client chose the finishes and furnishings.

Exterior materials and landscaping were chosen for low cost and ease of maintenance. Specialized systems include a security system, a redundant mechanical system to ensure 24/365 operations, as well as a natural gas emergency generator.
